Google says 62% of restaurant related searches on Valentine’s Day were from a Mobile device

A recent study from Google indicates that last Valentine’s Day, 62% of popular restaurant relates searches came from a mobile phone.

Event if it isn’t new for us, on may we stated that “Having you salon website mobile optimized is no longer an option”, because we know the importance of mobile traffic and you should to.

Volume of Searches for Popular Chain Restaurants in the US

Some interesting number from Google’s report, you shouldn’t ignore:

  • Consumers were 560% more likely to click to make a call week over week.
  • Searches for these restaurants grew 359% on mobile … between February 7th and February 14th

What does this mean for you salon business ?

From a marketing perspective you need to take care of your offers according to public demand, or even create one. Social events, like: Valentine, Carnival, 4th of Jully and many others, should always be carefully planned with a targeted marketing campaign attached to it.

Why should you have targeted campaigns ?

By having a targeted campaign you’ll make easy for the customer to buy from you, without the pain of having to choose between all the services you offer, remember that the customer most of the times don’t know what he wants.

Specific offers, attached to special dates, will make your business go upper on search engines rank, for the special occasion keywords. Let’s say, for Valentine’s you could create a “Valentine’s couple massage” and take advantage of the Valentine’s related searches on search engines.

Every offer or campaign should be time bounded, by having offers time limited you’ll push the visitor to a decision for the deal, you ca think on creating flash deals. Why not use your blank spaces on calendar to push special flash deals? Why not create and broadcast a flash deal ?

Salon cross selling, do it now!

Are you cross selling services on you Salon business ? If not, i have one dumb question for you: Why aren’t you cross selling ?

Let’s go through the basics on running any kind business, there are 2 ways to increase your business income/revenue:

  1. Get new clients = Increase number of clients
  2. Get more money from each client : Either you can make the client return more often or you get more money out of each visit.

If you are in business for a while, you must be thinking right now that getting new clients requires a considerable amount of effort from you. So how about getting more money from each of your clients ?

Cross selling is the term you should always have in mind, just try out to sell complementary services to your clients each time they make an appointment with you.

Why aren’t you cross selling your salon services to the client ? I can’t finger it out why clients that do Nails service, should always do Nails services or those that do Hair services should only do Hair services, do you ?

Let’s make a simple math exercise:

Suppose you have 300 clients, and you cross sell services to 10% of those this month, let’s say that you sell Manicure services to a reference value of $25 per session.

Monthly revenue from Cross Selling = $25 x 30 clients = $750,00

Yearly revenue from Cross Selling = 12 x $750 = $9.000,00

With a simple service cross selling you have just increased $9.000,00 to your yearly salon revenue, how easy this can be ?
